Council Of Conservative Citizens And League Of The South To Rally Against The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) On May 9th

Update May 9th: Updated post on rally. Anywhere from 16- 25 activists showed up.

The Council of Conservative Citizens (CofCC) and the League Of The South (LoS) have joined forces to hold a rally against the Southern Poverty Law Center at their headquarters in Montgomery, AL on Friday May 9th, 2014. Holding it on a weekday will ensure SPLC staffers are on the job and can feel at least a fraction of the pain they've inflicted upon so many people nationwide.

-- Location: 400 Washington Avenue in Montgomery, AL (MAP)
-- Time: May 9th from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. CDT
-- Particulars: Dress casual but respectable, no T-shirts, no belt buckles or hats with pictures, flags or messages. Do not bring your own signs or posters; organizers will provide signs.
-- Specific Issue: Activists are protesting the SPLC lawsuit in federal court that seeks to overturn Alabama laws that prevent the recognition of legal same-sex marriages from other states. Other issues include mass immigration, political correctness, and increasing employment discrimination against whites.

The official announcements originally published by the two organizations are re-published after the jump.

Stand Up To The SPLC: Southern Marriage & Family Defense Demonstration (Montgomery, AL – Friday, May 9th)

Friends,

In February, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama which seeks to overturn Alabama’s Marriage Protection Act, a 1998 law that bans the recognition of “gays marriages” from other states, and the Sanctity of Marriage Amendment, which enshrined this ban in the Alabama constitution in 2005. The lawsuit demands that Alabama recognize the “gay marriages” legislated into existence in other states by federal judges.

In 2006, 81 percent of Alabamians voted to ban “gay marriages” and civil unions, but the SPLC, which played a starring role in gutting Alabama’s popular immigration law, HB 56, has decided to nullify the will of the people of Alabama as expressed by the Alabama state legislature and impose Vermont’s definition of marriage on Alabama. This outrageous attack on Christian marriage and violation of states’ rights cannot be allowed to pass without opposition.

On Friday afternoon, May 9th, the CofCC, the League of the South, and others will be holding a Southern Marriage & Family Defense rally in front of SPLC headquarters at 400 Washington Avenue in Montgomery, AL from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Aside from this issue, there are many, many other legitimate reasons to protest the SPLC such as its assault on our immigration law and its practice of forcing political correctness and employment discrimination against White Christian Southerners. We feel that it has been too long. We hope you will come out and join us in Montgomery! Bring your friends and other supporters!

League to demonstrate at SPLC headquarters on 9 May . . .

Our demonstration on 9 May at the SPLC headquarters in Montgomery, Alabama, is going to be a little different logistically from our previous demonstrations. Because of the location of the SPLC at a rather cramped intersection, the Montgomery PD is going to have to close off the entire intersection to traffic. That will give us a very large space for the demonstration and an opportunity to host a very big crowd! You need to be there!

Also, because of the need for barricades and four on-duty policemen, it will cost us $660. We need to raise that amount from donations. We have a matching pledge of $250 already, so we are well on our way if we can match that! You can donate online via PayPal by using The League's e-mail address: or you can send a check to The League office at PO Box 760, Killen, Alabama 35645. Be sure to designate it on either PayPal or your check "for Montgomery rally."

This is a great opportunity for The League to show support for Southern family and marriage and against the homosexual "marriage" advocates. Be there and help us out!
