Alvin, Texas grows some tough people. One of the toughest was pitcher Nolan Ryan, the all-time career major league pitching strikeout leader, who was still averaging a strikeout per inning even at the not-so-tender age of 45.
But Alvin grows some pretty tough ladies, too. One of them, Monique Lawless, was standing in the checkout line at the Alvin Walmart on June 19th, 2011 when she saw three homeboys walk out with three cases of beer; there is uncertainty as to whether they're blacks or dark Hispanics. They chose not to pay for the beer first. Lawless chose to take offense to their actions. First, she informed a sales clerk, who waved at a Walmart greeter to stop them. He briefly detained two of the suspects, but they broke loose to join the third man in their getaway car. The, after asking the clerk to watch her purse, she went after the three herself. Watch the Fox News video embedded below -- note that at the 0:22 point, a cop catches up to one of the thugs and perfectly herds him right into a fence, pinning him.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Lawless ran towards the car, jumped on the hood and tried to kick in the windshield. Failing that, she then attempted to kick in the sunroof. When the car started moving, she prudently decided to get off, being briefly dragged along the pavement. She incurred a scratched face, a broken lip, and scrapes and bruises to her legs.
From there, the cops took over, and the three thieves were arrested at another Walmart store in Pearland near Texas 288 after an hourlong chase. The three perps, who are brothers, are identified as Sylvester Andre Thompson, 21; Sylvester Durlentren Thompson, 21; and Sylvester Primitivo Thompson, 19. All were living at 4925 Harbin in Santa Fe. All are now living in the Brazoria County Jail, facing charges of felony evading arrest and aggravated robbery. KTRK Channel 13 reports that...wait for it...at least two of the brothers have a criminal past (now don't tell me you are surprised by that).
One person who knows two of the perps posted the following comment at KTRK:

I think it is awesome that this lady went into action. I don't know about jumping on the car but she did something most people won't - she took action. I grew up in Santa Fe and have known two of the three boys (the ones with the records)since they were in elementary. They have always been thieves, stealing whatever they can get their grubby hands on from cell phones, money and even work equipment from people's vehicles. They may be locked up now but thanks in large part to our great system, they will be out in no time...
So how do you like that? A 42-year-old single mom with two kids who's just under 5 feet tall and weighs only 125 pounds had the balls to do what much larger men didn't do. Every physically-capable man who was there at the time and failed to at least help her should be ashamed of himself. In contrast, when Jeff Hall's Riverside neighborhood was invaded by scrawny white antifa and tubby Brown Berets, he didn't wait for his wife to confront them; he and his mates did it themselves.
