But even though Ramses says he will live in Iceland the rest of his life, in the next breath, he still considers himself African. And he wants to sire his own personal ghetto. "I'm African," Ramses said. "I want 12 children. So I have ten to go."
Instant ghetto -- just add jenkem.
Ramses fled to Iceland from Kenya in January 2008, seeking asylum supposedly because he was in fear of his life. After unsuccessfully running in Nairobi city council elections in December 2007, Ramses was beaten and persecuted by his political opponents, so he fled to Iceland. When he was deported to Italy, separating him from his wife and newborn child, his case drew national attention, and pressure was put on the government for his return. He was eventually brought back to Iceland, and a few months ago was granted citizenship. At present, Paul works full time at a restaurant in Reykjavik and his wife Rosemary works in a hotel.
What's interesting is that Paul Ramses bypassed every other black African country in his quest for asylum. He could have chosen to go to Tanzania, Botswana, Ghana, or Uganda, all of which have stable societies (by African standards). Yet he chose to go to a White nation -- and one of the WHITEST nations on earth to boot -- Iceland. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of Africa, is it?
Particularly nauseating is the fawning adulation expressed by The Reykjavik Grapevine reporter Paul Nikolov, who writes "Speaking candidly, I can think of no better person for the office of president of Iceland". Yuck! Gross!
