Jeanetta Williams, the president of the Salt Lake branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), is demanding that District 10 Senator Chris Buttars (R-West Jordan) resign his Senate seat over a controversial remark made during Senate hearing on SB48. Full stories published in the Deseret Morning News and earlier in the Salt Lake Tribune. Also aired by KTVX Channel 4 and KSL Channel 5.
The remark was made on Tuesday, February 12th during a debate on SB48, a bill aimed at equalizing school construction funds. Senator Howard Stephenson (R-Draper) set it up by referring to SB48 as "the ugly baby bill", possibly because it is a rather complicated catch-all bill. Then, as Buttars stood up to vote, he uttered the now "infamous" remark, "This baby is black, I'll tell you. This is a dark, ugly thing".
After another senator complained, Senator Buttars issued an apology on the Senate floor. Here's the complete text of the apology, originally posted HERE:
This is the statement no elected official wants to make, but I made a mistake and owe the Senate and the people of Utah an apology. Yesterday in discussion on the Equalization Bill, I made a comment which could reasonably be understood as offensive. It was a dreadful choice of words and I recognize that my words were damaging. I want to thank Senator Romero for speaking out immediately and President Valentine for allowing me to address this matter. Again, I apologize to anyone that may be hurt by my remarks. I did not mean to be degrading in any way to anyone, and I am truly sorry.
But that doesn't matter to the Salt Lake NAACP, nor the cyber lynch mobs already venting their spleens on various Salt Lake websites. Visit the Voice Of Deseret blog for the rest of the story.
Update: According to a February 14th story just posted by the Deseret Morning News, Buttars stands by his apology and refuses to resign. He's showing some spine!
Commentary: Hard-core pro-white activists might think Chris Buttars is a wuss for apologizing. We instinctively know that such apologies are useless; once one sins against political correctness, one is finished.
However, we should step back and look at the situation from Buttars' point of view. He's obviously a paleoconservative, maybe Council of Conservative Citizens quality, and genuinely doesn't believe himself to be a racist. He has fought relentlessly against the homosexual lobby in Utah. And now he's about to get mobbed by a bunch of antis and their sockpuppets for shooting off his mouth. Do we let him twist slowly in the wind just because he backpedaled one step and apologized?
No. Because if we who are pro-white will express some support for him, he just might remember that in the future. Buttars is white, even if he isn't explicitly pro-white. Post a comment HERE to encourage him to hang tough and NOT resign, or send him an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
By the way, this is still black history month, so you might want to bone up on your black history. Just how much do you really know about the NAACP? Did you know that the NAACP was under Jewish dominion from 1911-1975? That's right - the president of the NAACP during that entire period was always a Jew. More about this particular aspect can be read on the Jewish Tribal Review website. Amazing how every time blacks start raising hell, you'll find a "Jew behind the curtain", isn't it?
